The Whitall House is a rich media website created by myself and four others for our college final senior project. The projected was formed out of Drexel University's Colonial Philadelphia digital preservation project, with a grant provided by the National Park Service and the county of Gloucester, New Jersey. The Whitall House is an 18th century historic house, located at Red Bank National Park on the Delaware River in Gloucester County, New Jersey. The house is the historic site of Fort Mercer, one of the twin military installations which guarded the Philadelphia harbor and all communities north of Philadelphia along the Delaware River during the American Revolution. The website recreates the grounds in both past and present day, and provieds educational tools such as videos, virtual tours, and a lesson builder. (Due to some pending legal authorization, the site is not currently viewable to the public, and is password protected. If you would like to look at the site, you can email me for the passowrd, or see a beta version here: Whitall Beta).
Mind Drivers is the company that I have worked for most recently. It is a small web technology and venture industries firm, run out of a renovated 17th century mill in Thornton, PA. While working there, I lended my abilities to a variety of roles, including graphic design, web programming, video editing and compositing, animating, and marketing. The current website at MindDrivers.com was built primarily by myself, with some basic design and some PHP coding being performed by others in the company.
YouChoose.net is the main property of Mind Drivers, and the site that I spent most of my time working on during my employment. YouChoose.net is an online social network where passionate individuals learn, debate, share and take action on issues of importance to them. I helped with designing certain aspects of the site, developing new technology for its next generation, and I created the "Campaign Switcher" flash piece you see on the top of the homepage. You can learn more about the new technology the YouChoose.net brand is developing by visiting Distributed Social Networking - where I created the simple explanatory animation you see on the homepage.
QVC, for those who do not know, is a television station and website for shopping at home. While I was still in college, I interned for QVC off and on for almost a year as a web developer. I worked on both the current version of the website, as well as the one prior, taking control of the Sports, Leisure, Kitchen, and Food departments - I would develop special pages and update the content weekly based on my team of artists and content managers. Everyone was so pleased with my performance that I ended up updating the Homepage daily, and even won a QVC Key Award for my work on the homepage for the TSV Anniversary of 2007.
Jason Hall is a very talented film-maker from Philadelphia, and attended Drexel University with me. I helped him out by providing visual effects for his Senior Thesis film, Calendar Girl. The short film has gone on to win several awards, and has been screened at many independent film conventions.
